By installing Shelve or using this site, you agree to these terms. They're short, because Shelve is simple: it organizes your tabs, on your machine, and stays out of your way.
The service
Shelve is a browser extension that organizes and manages your tabs using an AI provider — either an API key you supply, a local model you run, or Shelve's built-in hosted tier. The extension's source is public and licensed under PolyForm Shield 1.0.0; these terms govern your use of the service, and the license governs the code.
Your content
Your tabs, settings, and shelved projects are yours and stay on your device. Requests you make to an AI provider pass through to that provider and are handled under its terms and privacy policy. Shelve claims no rights over any of it. How data moves is described precisely in the privacy policy.
The hosted free tier
The built-in Shelve Free provider is offered as a convenience, with generous daily limits so it stays fast and free for everyone. Limits, models, and availability may be adjusted at any time to keep the service healthy. If you want guaranteed, unmetered capacity, bring your own API key — Shelve treats that as a first-class mode, not a workaround.
Fair use
Don't abuse the service: no attempts to circumvent limits, mint install identifiers, resell or proxy the hosted tier, probe the relay, or use Shelve for anything unlawful. Install identifiers that abuse the service may be suspended without notice.
Bring-your-own-key providers
When you use your own OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, or Ollama setup, you're responsible for that account, its costs, and compliance with that provider's terms. Shelve simply carries your requests to the provider you chose.
Warranty and liability
Shelve is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developer is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of Shelve, and total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the service in the past twelve months.
Changes
These terms may be updated as Shelve evolves; the current version always lives at this URL with its effective date above. Continuing to use Shelve after a change means you accept the updated terms.
